Steel Sports announced its Regional Coach of the Year presented by Score Sports recipients with 13 men and women being named from seven regions around the country. A total of 70 Steel Sports soccer, baseball and softball coaches were nominated out of over 285 submissions.
Two Steel Sports Tommy Lasorda National Coach of the Year presented by LeagueApps winners will be chosen from the 13 regional recipients and announced during the Steel Sports Coach Symposium on January 11. Steel Sports is proud to announce the naming of the Coach of the Year award after Hall of Fame manager and baseball legend Tommy Lasorda, who won 1,599 games and two World Series titles with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lasorda inspired executive chairman Warren Lichtenstein to create Steel Sports in 2011.
The Regional Coach of the Year awards is part of the program’s first expansion since its inception in 2016. To align with its focus on social impact initiatives, Steel Sports has created three new awards to recognize the outstanding work of its coaches: Women of Steel Award, Rookie of the Year and Social Impact Award. Winners of these three national awards will be announced with the Tommy Lasorda National Coach of the Year winners on January 11.
Steel Sports also announced new sponsors for each awards category: The Tommy Lasorda National Coach of the Year presented by LeagueApps, the Regional Coach of the Year presented by Score Sports, the Social Impact Award presented by Yokohama, the Women of Steel Award presented by PUMA and the Rookie of the Year presented by Under Armour.
Steel Sports employs over 150 coaches and offers youth sports programming in nine states, providing a positive experience through athletic and character development for over 100,000 kids each year.
